Cajon Layout Open House

NEW! Joel Morse recently hosted an open house of his N-Scale New York, Ontario & Western layout set in upstate New York. Attendance was brisk with roughly two dozen members from both Cajon and Los Angeles Divisions in attendance. The layout loosely models the prototype railroad's main line as it serves the rural towns of Walton and Sidney, NY along with the Delhi Branch, and a fictitious connection with the DL&W mainline at Shellysburg, NY in the spring of 1954. Located in New York's Catskill Mountains, the model railroad depicts approximately 35 miles of the 541 miles of main line served by the NYO&W. Running from Weehaken, NJ on the west bank of the Hudson River opposite New York City, the railroad ran north/northwest to the town of Oswego on the Great Lakes with a branch southwest to the coal fields of Scranton, PA. Opened in 1873, the NYO&W was abandoned in 1957. The layout is designed for model railroad operations and Joel is giving a clinic on the subject of designing a model railroad for operations at the upcoming PSR Convention in San Diego. The layout was featured in the January 2024 edition of the NMRA Magazine. Thank you to Joel and his wife for opening their home and being gracious hosts.

Greetings from the County Line Crew

Already eight interested Model Railroaders located along the LA / Orange County Line have been meeting together and carpooling to local hobby shops, visiting each other's layouts and attending various events. Check out our activities in the current issue of The Order Board. It has been a blast getting to know each other. There is air in the brakes and the signal is green. This train is already out of the station and on its way!  Yet, we still could use you.  We have members from Paramount to Diamond Bar to Brea. Contact me if you are looking for a fun, informal, group, to talk and run, trains. LA and Cajon Division members are both welcome!
